Jeff Hansen is a partner who focuses his practice on the areas of employment counseling and litigation, healthcare fraud and abuse compliance, internal investigations, and complex commercial litigation.
Jeff has extensive experience counseling and defending clients in all phases of employment litigation and compliance, as well as representing clients in connection with government investigations and internal investigations.Prior to joining Actuate Law, Jeff served in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois in its civil division, representing the United States in employment litigation, fraud investigations (including qui tams), defensive civil litigation, including personal injury and medical malpractice claims, and Bivens claims against personnel of the FBI and United States Marshals Service. Jeff also served for seven years as the Veterans Reemployment Rights Liaison for the Northern District of Illinois, investigating and defending veterans’ rights under USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act). Jeff has successfully tried federal and state jury trials involving a wide variety of matters.Prior to Jeff’s government service, he spent a decade in private practice, focusing on commercial litigation.
