Actuate Law Adds Xavier Suarez as Senior Counsel to Firm’s Focus in Wynwood

MIAMI – May 16, 2022 – Actuate Law LLC, an innovation-forward law firm serving emerging markets and the next generation of business leaders, today announced the firm adds former Miami-Dade County Commissioner and former City of Miami Mayor Xavier Suarez as senior counsel at its new office in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami. Mr. Suarez's broad knowledge and focus on building client relationships bolsters the firm’s capacity to advance the technology, innovation and investment boom in the Miami market. 

With 47 years of experience in law practice and community leadership, Mr. Suarez is today steeped in activity across emerging areas of technology, including cybersecurity, data centers and digital infrastructure, digital assets, and other related industries for which Actuate Law, and its team of lawyers, has sharpened its edge. Mr. Suarez has diverse experience representing clients in litigation, real estate development, environmental law, pharmaceutical/regulatory issues, and general corporate practice. His clients include a major data-center operator, a cyber-security firm, a pharmaceutical product manufacturer/distributor, and various real estate developers.

Mr. Suarez obtained joint degrees in law and public policy from Harvard University, joining the firm’s own Harvard alumni group. As a seasoned and local luminary in his own right, his entry to Actuate further realizes the firm’s vision of fostering genuine relationships, team development and the tailoring of legal offerings that effectively bring support and good client service to entrepreneurs. Mr. Suarez is also an engineer, having done consulting work for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and for Roger Penske's Detroit Diesel when the company was asked to advise the Government of Mexico. As a county commissioner, he has recently published a five-year study on sea level rise, collaborating with Robert McNoldy of the Rosenstiel School.

Mr. Suarez became the first Cuban-American metropolitan mayor when he was elected in 1985 and served as Mayor of the City of Miami. He was subsequently reelected in 1987 and 1989 and also served on the Miami-Dade County Commission as District 7 Commissioner, representing the City of Miami, the Village of Key Biscayne, the City of Coral Gables, the City of South Miami, the Village of Pinecrest, as well as areas of unincorporated Miami-Dade County. Mr. Suarez is admitted to the state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. He has an AV rating from Martindale.
